Why arnt the American news stations carrying this story Russia vs. Georgia?

Most foreign news gets little coverage on US networks unless American interests are directly involved, which is why Hugo Chavez gets more press than he warrants and yet you have to go to the BBC World News for a more detailed, comprehensive coverage of the international scene. BBC America even covers US news which I have not seen on another US network, such as the air pollution crisis emerging in North-west Colorado caused by the natural gas bonanza there, especially benzene levels well above EPA maximum permitted levels.
